Double podium at the World Championship opener in Andorra: pure excitement!

Bjorn becomes runner-up - Tobias takes bronze
Emilly and Lea among the top 10 in the world

The opening event of the World Championships in Andorra offered a thrilling showdownacking showdown: the short track racethe first individual discipline in which the XCO athletes were able to compete for the first time. The race took place under extreme conditions: 20 minutes at full throttle at 1,800 meters above sea levelin the heat and on a dusty track. The tension was in the air - and our team was right in the middle of it!

U23 women: Strong battle for the podium places

Isabella Holmgren from Lidl-Trek dominated the U23 women's race and took the lead early on. Behind her, a thrilling battle broke out for the chasing positions, with Emilly repeatedly attacking in the leading group. In a dramatic sprint to the finish, she narrowly missed out on the podium and ended up in 4th place. "I felt good and super prepared, but in the race I rode a bit too passively and made a tactical mistake, but that's racing. Now full concentration on Sunday!" said Emilly after the race.
Lea, the newly crowned Swiss champion, showed a strong race, fought her way forward lap by lap and finished in 8th place, making Lea one of the best U23 riders in the world in short track.

Outstanding performance from Tobias and Bjorn

The top 40 Rider riders started in the men's race, all with the aim of winning the coveted rainbow jersey. The start phase was a game of nerves - a crash on the first bend really shook up the field of riders. A leading group quickly formed, in which both Bjorn and Tobias were the favorites.

The battle for victory was a spectacle: lead changes, tactical skirmishes and repeated increases in speed. On the penultimate lap, there were still twelve Rider in the leading group and the atmosphere was boiling. Then the attacks began. Tobias took the lead on the final lap and defended it stoutly up to the root passage, where the race was decided: Riley Amos attacked, just ahead of Tobias, but briefly lost control and blocked Tobias. In the final sprint, Bjorn won the silver medal, while Tobias finished in third place.

"Tobias won a bronze medal today and Bjorn is vice world champion - we have been working towards this moment for almost three years and the boys showed today that they belong among the world's best," our team manager Bernd proudly praised his protégés.

The cross-country race continues directly on Sunday - keep your fingers crossed! 🏆🚴‍♂️
